"When you have consecrated them, they shall be most sacred; whatever touches them shall be sacred" Exodus 31.29
Service to God’s people is an important part of the Confirmation process; there is a minimum of 20 hours of community service be completed prior to receiving Confirmation in the fall of 2013. Service is defined broadly as volunteer time that helps the community and its members, it can be coordinating a car wash donating the money to a charity, helping at a local food bank, teaching a younger child math, walking an elderly neighbor’s dog, encourage your child to look into helping where they have an interest. They should not be paid for this volunteer time. Some students are already working on those hours; the forms to log this time as well as suggestions to get you started are available on the parish web site under the Confirmation tab. (www.saintjamesparish.org) PTA’s, parish committees and other organizations that need volunteers do contact us during the year for service opportunities, so be sure and check the web site.
